Croatia, the richest former-Yugoslavic republic (second in per capita GDP to Slovenia), has finally caught its man. He has been on the run for four years.
In October Austria put up a big fight against Turkey's EU membership talks, pointed out that Croatia (a country in which Austria invests heavily) was fulfilling the requirements better than Turkey. In the end Austria agreed to Turkey talks only if Croatia was guaranteed the same thing. The EU had been refusing to talk with Croatia because it believed Croatia was not doing enough to catch Gotovina, a war-criminal and nationalistic hero of the Croats.
Are the smaller countries' identities being swallowed up by this giant EU...
